Let's talk about the BIGGEST web3 gaming events the past year and what's next for 2023!
Sedano (6:11): On the other side of things, the community was able to finally see what a blockchain conference looks like. We also provided opportunities for projects worldwide trying to get into the space in the Philippines. We are a melting pot for talent in web3. And web3 games are pretty hot right now. We've had other conferences all over the world where crypto and blockchain games are inching their way onto the main stage. For example, the Tokyo Game Show where YGG Japan had their own booth. And one of our ecosystem partners, Digital Entertainment Asset, the guys behind PlayMining, also had a big booth. These guys are investing and marketing their projects at web2 conferences. That is a lot to say there. So, Kat, why is it important, though? Let’s say I have a gaming project. Why do I have to be at gaming conferences? Why do I have to have the best and the nicest booth, or what impact will that have?
Kat (7:33): When I talked to our sponsors, they gave me good insights. Some wanted to convert or get their word out there, meet people and tell them about their game, et cetera. Others said they got feedback that helped improve or develop their game or product. So as a brand or company, you can get a lot from having a booth, talking to people, getting feedback, learning and doing some marketing. A lot of things can come out of it.
Sedano (8:11): Let's talk about the learning process. What did you notice or learn from the first web3 conference, the Philippine Web3 Festival, in the country?
Kat (8:25): I learned that we can do it. It's never been done in the Philippines before, especially not at this scale. We didn’t have much time to prepare for it, but we got amazing support from web3 companies, startups, and partners. That makes us more confident for the next one. Our team stepped up, giving 200%, and I'm super proud of them. I learned that we can definitely go even bigger next time.
Sedano (9:01): Definitely something to watch out for. But aside from another conference, do you consider continuing the YGG Roadshows or have any similar projects for 2023?
Kat (9:25): We want to do the Roadshow concept at universities, so students who are going into the job market in the future can learn about web3 and what they could possibly do there. It will be a crash course or sneak peek into Web3 Metaversity, our online product. We'll have people speak there, and maybe even do some hackathons at certain stops. So that's something to look out for next year.
