YGG Community Roundup
A recap of our biggest achievements and most exciting announcements in May 2021.
Hello there! May was a huge month for YGG—we were featured in a documentary, team members Gabby and Zee leaked some YGG insights on AxieChat, and so much more. Let's dive into this month's key developments!
Axie Infinity
YGG Scholars have now earned over 11 Million SLP to date! That's almost $1.4M USD earned by over 1000 Axie scholars.
YGG is focused on rapidly expanding scholarships now with the release of the Ronin sidechain. Our next goal is to have 10,000 YGG scholars!
An amazing documentary was released, titled “Play-to-Earn: NFT Gaming in the Philippines.” The short film follows a community from Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija, in the Philippines, that were dependent on playing Axie Infinity during the early lockdown period last year. And it featured YGG! The documentary’s writer and narrator, Leah Callon-Butler, talked with many members of YGG to show what the movement is striving to accomplish.

Our good friends at AxieChat had Gabby and Zee on their May 25th show to spill more info about what YGG has been building in the background. There were quite a few big “leaks” but you'll have to watch the video to find out!

League of Kingdoms
YGG0 is now the 6th strongest Alliance in LoK and YGG1 is growing steadily as well!
Guild of Guardians
The 1st Guild of Guardians (GoG) sale went live May 26th. YGG secured one of only ten “Mythic Guild” NFTs and a total of 70 Legendary Heroes Summon NFTs for the exclusive use of YGG members when GoG goes live.
Ember Sword
On May 27th, Ember Sword kicked off their land sale in the Solarwood district, one of the four nations in their game’s world of Thanabus.
The sale had some very unexpected issues and complications, but YGG still managed to acquire a nice bundle of land (see the green square in the image below).
Gabby on NFTCast.show
YGG was featured on Episode 9 of the NFTCast.show, a podcast hosted by @naginakamoto1 and run by DokiDoki Finance.
Gabby gave great info on what YGG aims to accomplish in the metaverse.

NEW HIRES
YGG has been growing at a crazy rate, and in order to keep up, we started our first hiring round in early May.
We have found some amazing people to add to the YGG team, and we couldn’t be happier to have them with us. A few of our new team members were happy to share a little bit about themselves too!
Be prepared next month for a bunch more info about the rest of our new hires.
Knightav
Hi! I'm knightav, new Dev Manager for YGG. Aside from Discord, and "in-game" of course, our app/site is the main place that you're going to interact with YGG so I'm really thrilled to be entrusted with responsibility for building it.
While I've been a lifelong gamer and running developer teams in the crypto space for many years, I only started playing Axie in 2019. Since then, it has been hard to play almost anything without play-to-earn or digital asset ownership. Teaming up with YGG was the obvious next step for a true believer in the space.
Working for YGG is a fascinating opportunity, because it is a rare instance of a true "everybody wins" scenario. Whether you are a player, an investor, a creator, or a game developer: everybody benefits from an association with YGG!
PS. I also manage our fledgling Splinterlands community on the side. We have openings in our primary guild for rank Bronze 2 players and up. Come brawl with us!

Landphil
Hey all, I’m excited to step into the role of Business Operations Manager at YGG. It's a dream come true to channel my values, skills and passions into working with the YGG team to bring the change I want to see in the world.
I’m grateful for this chance to commit more of my life to the strategic development of blockchain gaming and play-to-earn. My educational background is in Fine Arts, Environmental Design and Architecture, paired with a long career of playing poker professionally. I believe in the future of blockchain technology and its potential to do good. I also believe that gaming will be what leads us into global adoption of crypto. YGG is at the forefront of this revolution and it’s a privilege to be a part of that.
I’ve already had an amazing time in this community with many of you, and I look forward to expanding that by helping lead the strategic charge towards developing our digital future.
