W3GS: Build Web3 Quests with YGG and Put Your Game in the Spotlight
At W3GS, YGG's Head of Community Products, Mark Tan, took the stage to talk about how GAP and RAP create a steady foundation for web3 reputation by driving meaningful community-centered activity.
YGG’s Guild Advancement Program (GAP) has seen significant growth since its inception. As GAP Season 3 introduced the GAP Council and brought more players into the hit game Pixels, and Season 4 saw quest enrollments increase by 243%, the program has built great momentum for its next iterations and the year ahead.
At YGG Web3 Games Summit (W3GS), YGG's Head of Community Products, Mark Tan, presented a keynote to discuss these developments and how Reputation and Progression (RAP) will take not only GAP Season 5, but the guild ecosystem as a whole, to the next level. In his session, “The Future of Gaming Identity,” he discussed how the GAP brought the community together both in-game and on social media, contributing to the games’ player ecosystems and expanding their reach.
Mark also talked about how the soulbound NFTs and tokens that guild members earn from the GAP build player profiles and contribute to their gaming identity. He explained that the YGG team uses this player information to scale and map the quest difficulties and progression of the next seasons of the GAP.
The excerpts below include some of these highlights from Mark’s keynote. Watch his full presentation on Facebook.
W3GS - The Future of Gaming Identity: GAP and RAP
Mark (36:27): For the game partners, there's an opportunity for you to put your game in front of the players, and these are thousands of highly engaged players who’ve been in the guild through ups and downs. If you're a creator, this also means you have the opportunity to continue building your audience.
So through this program, we continue to build a strong momentum because what we do is not only do we build a lot of quests, but we highlight specific quests and rally the community, especially during big releases. What that does is it focuses the energy of the community at certain periods of time across the game and across the season. It's really exciting to see the community come together through different activities.

Mark (42:10): As we’re thinking about this GAP season, what’s next? We do understand that these individual quests should collectively come into fruition when it comes to reputation. This is where Reputation and Progression (RAP) comes in.
What we've done so far is we've mapped your historical soulbound achievements into XP and levels by looking at activities in Superquests and GAP. So this is an example. So far, we are shaping the achievements to lean more towards experience. In fact, we've mapped more than 1,000 members. And personally, I find it really cool to see where people stand. It's interesting to see what the distribution looks like for those who are still early on, let’s say, Levels 1-5, versus those who are elite players or those who are really putting in a lot of time and effort.
What this allows us to do is, we can see how easy or difficult things are and make adjustments along the way so that there's enough friction for people to level up and enjoy while learning and growing with the guild.
What this also does is, in the future, for game partners, this will let us offer different exclusive packages, not only for partners but for players who are interested in certain games.

Mark (44:14): For Season 4, I know a lot of you are thinking about the numbers here, but we’re still tallying it. Out of the 160 achievements, we've seen more than 6,000 signups, and it's really impressive how many players are signing up. It's more than 30,000 quest enrollments, completing 12,000 quests. This is more than 10x last season. So thank you for being there throughout the bear market.
In line with this, this is where we really want to take Season 5 to the next stage. We invite all of you to join us. If you're interested to organize, sponsor or host, reach out directly or scan the QR code. We’ll ask you for your contact info.
If you're already active in Discord, I'm sure we got your DM, so we’ll get back to you. We’ll open the floor for planning to have more people involved. GAP covers the whole gamut. We have the Spotlights, Community Cup, and so forth. Again, thank you for being part of the journey and hope to see you soon in the next season.
