Metaverse Filipino Worker: Trailer Out Now!
YGG has released the official trailer for “Metaverse Filipino Worker,” a five-part series following a group of Filipino gamers seeking alternative career opportunities in the Metaverse.
For decades, millions of breadwinners across the Philippines have turned to opportunities abroad, becoming Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) to provide for their families’ needs. The OFW route used to be the only option for economic growth for most Filipinos. However, since the boom of web3 gaming in the country, as captured by the viral 2021 short film “Play-to-Earn: NFT Gaming in the Philippines,” millions have discovered a new path forward. In the borderless Metaverse, anyone can build a livelihood without having to leave home.
To shed light on this movement, YGG has backed a five-part series titled “Metaverse Filipino Worker,” featuring some of its most notable MFWs from the YGG Pilipinas community, including Community Manager Spraky, YGG Esports Captain Disi, NFT X-Street guild leader JB, content creator Stephy, mommy influencer Julie, and more. The series offers viewers an intimate look into the lives of some of web3’s most prominent leaders, showcasing the ingenuity and resilience of a community that has experienced both the highs and lows of crypto.
“Metaverse Filipino Worker” is written and directed by Leah Callon-Butler, Director of Emfarsis and creator of “Play-to-Earn: NFT Gaming in the Philippines,” and scored by L!NE OUTS!DE, the collaborative production banner of Edgar Sinio aka Artek606 and Allan Pineda, better known as Apl.de.Ap of the Black Eyed Peas.
On November 20 at the YGG Play Summit in Manila, YGG will host an invite-only red carpet premiere for the series, featuring notable figures from the Philippine entertainment industry, government, startup and technology sectors, and media. The series will also be screened for all Summit attendees at the Gamer Expo before its official online release.
