GAP Season 6 AMA: Setting the Foundation for the Future of Work
With the launch of GAP Season 6, Gabby joined FallenCorpsez and Sedano on an AMA to discuss how GAP introduced onchain reputation to open up new opportunities for work in the open Metaverse.
During the first season of the Guild Advancement Program (GAP), YGG designed a compelling use case for soulbound tokens (SBTs), issuing these non-transferable NFTs to certify a YGG player’s achievements in web3. Over time, a player who completed quests from YGG would create a portfolio of SBTs that defined their profile, reflecting their dedication to specific games, their competitive achievements, or even their community contributions.
This has enabled YGG players to develop their onchain reputation — verifiable proof of a person’s experience and skills recorded on the blockchain. Its application started with gaming, but YGG always had in mind the possibility of it becoming an important component of the future of work. In GAP Season 5, YGG introduced bounties as a separate category for non-game quests that players could complete to earn SBTs and rewards. With bounties, players could explore other aspects of web3 gaming, such as content creation and game testing.
Now, a player can build a portfolio of their experience as a moderator, content creator, or mentor, which could open career opportunities for them in the future. A future employer can look at their onchain activity, see the SBTs they have earned, and treat them as proof of their experience and skills. GAP is setting the foundation, which will have rippling effects throughout multiple industries as web3 adoption increases steadily.
Recently, YGG co-founder Gabby Dizon joined YGG Community Manager FallenCorpsez and YGG Pilipinas Campaign Director John Sedano as they hosted a GAP Season 6 AMA. They discussed the new changes this GAP season and answered questions from newer members of the community, such as those who were onboarded during the recently concluded YGG Pilipinas Roadtrip. They talked about onchain reputation, bounties and premium quests, teasing upcoming features such as guild questing.
The following is an excerpt from the AMA, where Gabby and FallenCorpsez talk about how bounties reward community members for the meaningful contributions they make outside of gaming. FallenCorpsez also talks about how SBTs accumulated over multiple seasons of GAP are one of the best ways to verify that you are a human. Gabby adds that SBTs earned through bounties involving participation in IRL events are another definitive indicator, such as those that will be issued to community members who contributed to the YGG Pilipinas Roadtrip.

YGG AMA: Guild Advancement Program Season 6
Gabby (19:46): Bounties are an emerging and growing part of GAP, and in the future, they may even be separated from GAP. If you think of a typical GAP quest, it’s more for doing gaming tasks, quests in-game which everyone is used to. But there's a lot of tasks that we'd want to reward as bounties, because these are useful tasks that people are willing to pay for and give you important skills.
One day, we may actually separate these from GAP and then make it its own questing series on the YGG app. One of the exciting things is that we have AI bounties. We're working with different AI protocols that need tasks done. We have here bounties from Navigate, and the other one is Sapien. We have tasks that let you label AI data in exchange for tokens. Then we have creator bounties as well. What are the other bounties, Fallen?
FallenCorpsez (21:32): Yeah, we have a bunch of bounties. Our Game Testers Program has bounties. Moderation has bounties. Our regional partners like YGG Pilipinas, OLA GG, and our other partners have bounties for their communities, specifically for them. Pretty much anything that we can put into this future of work that's outside of game-specific quests is going to get bounties.
We're looking to reward our community for the work that they do. We have a whole bunch of people who do content creation. We have a whole bunch of people who do moderation. It's only fair that they get rewarded and also build their onchain reputation. Should they need to go out somewhere else or want to be a moderator for a different Discord and they want to show that proof — show them your onchain soulbound tokens to prove that you've been a moderator for YGG for multiple months. A lot of our partners will take that into account and say, “Wow, okay, we know YGG is legit, and you have those soulbound tokens. You must be a good mod.”
Gabby (22:45): We even have bounties for being volunteers for events such as the YGG Pilipinas Roadtrip. Then we have mentor bounties for those who are helping other people, in this case, for Parallel. If you help other people learn more about the game, you get the bounty for that. I think these soulbound token achievements that we give are especially meaningful because these are real proof that you've done meaningful contributions to the community, that you have skills you can share, and it's something that you can always point to and say, “Hey, I helped out with an AI bounty, with a creator bounty,” or, “I was a mentor.” These should be valuable credentials in your web3 resume.
FallenCorpsez (23:32): That's the big thing that we've been trying to build here, this onchain reputation we've been talking to some of our partners about integrating into their games. There's a big botting issue, not only in web3 games but in web2 games as well, and this is a great way to figure out who's a legitimate player. If you have a large repository of these soulbound tokens for multiple seasons, it's highly unlikely that you're a bot.
Gabby (24:05): Absolutely. This is actually a really underrated feature. If you help out with a lot of these bounties, especially if you're part of events, you are much more likely to be a human. Where rewards are going should be to people who are verified humans and make meaningful contributions to the communities more than those just clicking on buttons and airdrop farming.
FallenCorpsez (24:33): Exactly. So who knows in the future? For future airdrop seasons or games, if we do everything correctly with our partners, they might be specifically looking for soulbound tokens in your wallet. It’s another great reason, besides YGG rewards or in-game rewards, to participate in GAP and build your onchain reputation, which also ties into how we've been making a lot of updates to our app, to our website, to help people display their reputation on their profile and build that profile so it's easier to share.
